Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray – key), is a gentle and effective form of energy work that has its roots in Japan. Reiki means  “Universal Energy”.

Reiki can help balance your body, mind, and spirit. It can aid in the transformation of old energetic patterns and help alleviate the symptoms of stress, depression, and anxiety.  It is a great complement to traditional medicine and is being used increasingly in hospitals and medical care settings to help patients recover from surgery and illness.

During a Reiki session, you can lie on a comfortable surface such as a massage table or, for the bed-bound, in bed. You can also sit in a chair if preferred. You’ll remain fully clothed; only your shoes come off. Your practitioner will place her hands lightly on your body’s various energetic centers (Chakras). She may hover her hands over your body as well.  You might feel pulsing or tingling as the energy is shifted. Reiki treatments are often quite relaxing. Some people choose to receive treatments on a regular basis and as part of their overall self-care, others get treatments when they are feeling particularly depleted or stressed.

A note about what Reiki is not.

  • It’s not massage, nor is it associated with any particular religion.
  • It is also not a substitute for a doctor’s care.

If you’ve never received a treatment, why not give yourself the gift of relaxation and balance that Reiki can provide?
